but not, as I recall, on stringed instruments, if you're doing it right :) (though in concertos and ensemble settings with piano for tuning reasons they might squelch the difference- I wouldn't know.)

Thanks, Dax - reminds me of long-forgotten theory exercises! If I'd been handed a Sibelius transposition in B sharp major (see post #6 above), it most definitely would not have been a swell party and the piano might not have got off so lightly ...
