Going back 40-odd years, Bernstein/symphony 3 put Nielsen on the map for me, but it was Martinon/symphony 4 with the Chicago SO  that convinced me that Nielsen was a composer I couldn't live without. I'm not sure if that recording has been migrated to CD, but I recommend it highly.

The Martinon Fourth was transferred to Cd in the very cheap RCA series "Navigator" coupled to Previn's First (and two short fillers, among them a very fine "Saul and David" orchestral interlude).
(BTW the Martinon Helios overture was in the same "Navigator" series together with Morton Gould recordings of Symphony n.2 and Clarinet Concerto- the latter with Benny Goodman).
