Just inwardly sighing again! Wonderful pianist Benjamin Grosvenor releases his Decca debut disc and what do we find? Chopin, Ravel and Liszt - now I love all three but compare this with his non-record company debut disc - Scarlatti, Albeniz, Kapustin, Chopin (ok...), Moszkowski and transcriptions by Grainger and Cziffra. I know that he will want to record regular repertoire to build up an audience (and of course because it is glorious music) but I hope that his contract with Decca doesn't stifle any exploration he wants to make.

I have heard Benjamin Grosvenor play on several occaisions during the last couple of years and and I can certainly vouch for his superb playing.  What is also good news is that Decca is waking from its slumber and recording a new artist, lets hope they keep backing him and it may encourace them to begin some serious recording again.
