Does anyone know the VC by US composer, Nicolas Flagello (1928-94)? It would seem to be another approachable VC from the modern era...

This is another big-hearted neo-Romantic violin concerto. It was composed in 1956, but only in short score, and was orchestrated by one Anthony Sbordoni in 2003. The performance on the Artek label is quite superb: that wonderful US violinist, Elmar Oliveira, is the soloist and the orchestra - superbly recorded - is the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. This is really approachable music from the post-WW2 era.

Olveira is another enterprising violinist who should be brought to Mike Spring's attention for the RVC series.

I like what little I've heard of Flagello.  I have one CD that contains his Symphony No. 1 and a series of other works.  I think it was ultimately this site that got me to get his music -- nothing specifically said about him, but the desire to go after the "unsung."

I have this disc: http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/Drilldown?name_id1=3832&name_role1=1&bcorder=1&comp_id=84837
I also DLed the first PC from eMusic, off this disc http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/Drilldown?name_id1=3832&name_role1=1&bcorder=1&comp_id=209931

It's all very good, neo-romantic stuff. I first heard his music when I borrowed http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/Drilldown?name_id1=3832&name_role1=1&bcorder=1&comp_id=39294 from the library, as I was surveying Gould.

This disc the OP is talking about is http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/Drilldown?name_id1=3832&name_role1=1&bcorder=1&comp_id=250316 -- it seems to be a good review. Quite tempting, wish there were more samples though.
