I understand that Sakari Oramo, currently Principal Conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and shortly demitting office as Principal Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (and of course the former Principal Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), will succeed Jiri Belohlavek at the BBC Symphony Orchestra ;D

So....some John Foulds at The Proms ;D ;D

...and perhaps some adventurous Scandinavian repertoire?

Not if the BBC has anything to do with it.

There are so many fine Scandinavian composers :) but even restricting oneself to Finns then obviously there are living composers like Rautavaara, Sallinen and Aho and composers from the recent past like Englund and Kokkonen.

Syrelius

During his years in Stockholm he has not seemed to be that interested in Swedish repertoire. Even when on tour with the Stockholm P O playing Scandinavian music, there is Sibelius and Grieg on the programme...  :(
