Thomas Wingham had numerous orchestral works (including four symphonies) performed at the Crystal Palace and elsewhere.

There is no entry for him in Grove so here is an outline of his career -

1846 - born in London (January 5)
1856 - became organist of St Michael's Mission Church, Southwark
1863 - studied at London Academy of Music
1864 - appointed organist of All Saints' Paddington
1867 - entered RAM, studying under Sterndale Bennett and Harold Thomas
1871 - appointed a professor of the piano at the RAM (later also appointed a professor at the Guildhall School of Music)
1882 - appointed musical director at the oratory, Brompton
1893 - died in London (March 24th)

Wingham was clearly given some highly prestigious performances (Dan Godfrey later played the second Symphony twice at Bournemouth, in 1902 and 1908), and he was also the dedicatee of Stanford's Mass in G, Op.46 (1892), but the bulk of his orchestral and choral works remained in manuscript: in the 1870s his Symphony No.2 and the first Concert Overture were published as piano duets by Lamborn Cock, who also published the Elegy on the Death of Sterndale Bennett as a piano solo; Novello published the Serenade in E flat as a piano duet (1886), whilst Alfred Hays published a reduction of the Concert Capriccio around 1885; vocal scores of the Regina Coeli mass and the Brompton Te Deum were published in 1878 and 1887 (Novello) respectively. BL, RAM and RCM don't appear to have any of Wingham's autograph scores.
