Halvor Haug(1952-); a Catalogue of the Orchestral Music

If, as seems to be the case, Halvor Haug has given up composing music (nothing has emerged in the last 10 years) it will be a real tragedy. This was a Norwegian composer with a real mastery of traditional forms who combined neo-romanticism with a modern edge. Haug was a pupil of Einar Englund in Finland and his music was much admired by that excellent judge, Robert Simpson.

Re the Symphonic Epos, I'm surprised that it's "fred" and not "ferd" (but what do I know of Scandinavian languages- nothing, that's what) but it is og and not of - so Menneskeverd og fred is the title, apparently... (composed 1985, premiered 1986 May 25)
