Trends versus fads?

I dunno, I like descriptive titles too. There's a reason that Beethoven's 'name' sonatas are the most popular. I only don't like it when it's heavy handed, but otherwise what's the harm? If nothing else, it's much easier to remember "From the Ends of the Earth" (to use a random phrase that may or not be an existing work) than "Symphony in Eb".
