I have spent a few days playing through and listening the concertino for piano & orchestra and what a pleasant experience it has been.

It is difficult not to liken the work to Rhapsody in Blue, but this to my ears is preferable and equally memorable. Even if it were not for the incredible story that surrounds it, this work is still a minor masterpiece in my opinion.

Would be interested if anyone else here has heard it.

I like it also. To my ears Concertino can be compared to the Warsaw Concerto by Addinsell too.

Those who like Szpilman's playing can find in the Downloads/Polish Music his performance of:
Piano Quintet by Juliusz Zarębski (1954-1885), a gem of Polish chamber music.
It is a copy of an old LP by Polskie Nagrania/Muza XL 0178 (ca. of 1963) MONO, never reissued on CD.
