Georges Martin Witkowski   Born 6.1.1867 Mostaganem, Algeria  - Died 12.8.1943 Lyons, France

George started his adult life in the army. He had a French mother and Polish father.  He came to serious music study when nearly thirty,  under d'Indy.  From 1924 he was director of The Lyons Music Conservatory
