Palazetto Bru Zane have announced the first recording of Saint-saens' oratorio The Promised Land:

See also the following link for a description of this work which was first performed in Gloucester Cathedral.

In youTube there is a recording which I surmise is the one referred to in the Wikepedia article:

And a very good cast:

Nicole Car (soprano)
Kate Aldrich (mezzo soprano)
Cyrille Dubois (tenor)
Mikhail Timoshenko (baritone)
Michel Bouvard (organ)
Toulouse Capitole Chorus
Alfonso Caiani (chorus master)
Toulouse Capitole Orchestra
Tugan Sokhiev (conductor)

But why are they putting the Organ Symphony on the discs.

*shaking head*

Presumably to attract a wider audience. Nevertheless, who needs it?

Mark Thomas

It's an advertisement for the concert, not necessarily for the recording.

Nice to hear :-)
So we will have two Promised Lands - considering the one by Massenet, which has been recorded by Erol 20 years ago.

QuoteBut why are they putting the Organ Symphony on the discs.

I guess because an organ is called for in the oratorio! It doesn't necessarily mean that the whole concert will appear on discs. The two won't fit on one disc and the symphony alone on one disc is short measure to say the least,
