Charles Abraham Trew  Born Marylebone, London 2.11.1854 - Died London 1929

At one time he was Sorabji's private music tutor.
He was the son of an hotel keeper.  He married Susan Codd in 1880.

There was also a son Arthur Charles Trew 1882 - 1960 who composed some light music; which included 'Troilets' consisting of two books of "very musical and attractive little trios" according to Cobbett.

Arthur married in 1914, they had one daughter Patricia Mary Trew (Egerton-Smith)

Charles A. had a sister, Eliza Jane born 1856

Assuming that the two minute long recording available on YouTube is the whole work then Kalnins "Autumn" is indeed a lovely little miniature. But to return to Trew, his entry in Brown & Stratton's British Musical Biography of 1897 reads:

Trew, Charles A., pianist and composer of present time. Sometime organist of St. Paul's, Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells. Resident in London, where for some time he has given annual concerts. His compositions embrace a trio for pf. and strings. Musical Artists' Society, 1884 ; Sonata in D minor; Romance ; and other pieces for violin and pf. Author of Harmony Lessons, adapted for classes, London, Schott, 1888. His wife, Susan Trew, is also a pianist and composer, and among her works a sonata for violin and pf. was produced by the Musical Artists' Society, June 26, 1893.

I believe Trew was also Sorabji's teacher during 1913-14.

I don't know is the answer but I will try and see who Arthur Charles' father was.  There is very little I have been able to find about C.A.Trew.
