I know these have been recorded (separately, I think), but I haven't heard them and since seeing one excerpted in Newman (Sonata since Beethoven) look forward to hearing them, so I think this could be a good release...

If they're half as good as the gorgeous sextet for piano and winds they are worth my money.

one's his first published work (... ok, opus 1) (manuscript and score date from 1880, both are @ IMSLP) - might be less developed than the (otoh also early) sextet... - the other sonata, op.30 (pub.1904 and one of a (gratifying, I think :) ...) number of works dedicated to Henri Marteau) (odd since quite a few I think were by Thuille's rival(??) Max Reger) is I think the E minor sonata that William Newman quoted (at least, I recall that the finale-opening he quoted was indeed in E minor; I'll have to recheck the work whose score is again @ IMSLP, and at Sibley... )
