It's very beautiful. I wonder what MSS of his survive and where they are. Somewhere in South America, I suispect.

A search reveals an auction (past - it was sold to someone in March 2011) for the ms of a 1918 concertante work of his at a site called worthpoint.com, now you mention that. The andante and variations for piano and strings (and orchestra, on the page... hrm.)

Also, according to another site,

"A large number of the compositor's piano pieces remain unpublished. The original manuscripts may be found at the Music Department at the University of Sao Paulo (Universidade de São Paulo – USP)"...

From the P.Q.P.Bach website, you can download some great Oswald works including :

Symphony Op.43
Andante & Variations for Piano & Orchestra
Piano Quartet Op.26
Piano Quintet Op.18
Piano Concerto
Sonata Fantasy
Works for Cello & Piano
Various Piano Pieces

From a now defunct website, I also have his Requiem + Motets.

Alan is always warning me of the dangers of using these blogs but the treasures obtained are well worth the occasional expense of virus removals

There are also several CDs of Oswald's piano pieces available together with his Violin Sonata Op.36 on the Dynamic label and Estudio-Scherzo in Bbm for String Quartet on Chandos.

Consider yourself duly re-warned!

By the way Felipe Sarro has played some works by Oswald (some of which can now also be downloaded from IMSLP.)

Sorry, Alan, but I can resist everything except temptation...

Oswald's Elegia for Orchestra is now downloadable from the PQP Bach website.

Well worth the risk!

His Piano Concerto of 1890 was broadcast on radio 3 yesterday played by Artur Pizarro and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales under Brabbins. It was announced as his tenth piano concerto and it says no. 10 on the website but they may have a typo.

On Friday the same forces are playing the 1st Piano Concerto by Alfredo Napoleão (E flat minor, op31).

Can we assume that this is a future Hyperion RPC release?

Dear giles.enders, How sure are you about the concerto Op. 28? I can see no mention of it on his website http://www.oswald.com.br/site2010/catalogo1.htm There is an Andante e Variações mentioned under Piano and Orchestra. Is this another Goldmark Concerto No. 2? :D
