Brahms on Draeseke

Fascinating, Rainolf. To me, the very fact that Brahms, a bachelor who knew the personal cost of an unstinting commitment to art, deplored the engagements of Bruckner and Draeseke (but not of Haussmann) suggests that Brahms considered the two men as (to push the argument to its limit) creative artists who had heretofore made similar sacrifices in personal comfort and pleasure for the sake of their muse. Am I off-base here?
