Carl Linger (1810-1862)

I have just finished reading a book about musicians in exile, mostly from Nazi Germany, who ended up in Australia and in an early chapter  I came across Carl Linger, composer of "The Song of Australia". He was born in Berlin, where he composed, and came to Australia in 1849. He died in Adelaide in 1862. At first, I thought I couldn't find anything about him, least of all about his compositions while he was still living in Germany, but then I found "A biographical register of colonial Australian musicians" by Australian musicologist Graeme Skinner – : http://www.graemeskinner.id.au/biographicalregisterK-L.htm – and this contains a lengthy entry on Linger.
A lot of Lingers works were apparently never published and quite a few of those that were are now lost.

I had an LP issued by the ABC of 6 Orchestral Interludes by Linger. I've still got a cassette recording somewhere. Tuneful but not memorable as I recall.
