Antoine François Marmontel (1816-1898)

Marmontel too wrote piano sonates. I think so that this important teacher and composer is very forgotten. He had the famous conflict with Alkan for get the place as teacher in Paris Conservatory. Some much composers dedicated works to him. For example the Dumka op 59 by Tchaicovski. Some one had listened music by him? I worked in one piano sudy from him. I like very much the piece. If my memory don't fail Diemer Louis dedicated to him the Piano concert piece. Op 33?or 31? I will revise!!

There were two composers Marmontel (father and son, I think?) - Antoine François Marmontel (1816-98) and Antonin (1850-1907).  The Marmontel one speaks of (including the dedicatee of the Diémer work, whose full score can be viewed digitized at BNF) is Antoine François, it seems.

It seems that Antoine Marmontel wrote at least 2 piano sonatas (the 2nd his op.86, pub.1867) and that Antonin wrote at least one (pub.1879).
