This is particularly exciting news. I have been hoping this work would be recorded by somebody. Damrosch also wrote a Violin Concerto of course, which I would VERY much like to hear.

Then there's Walter Damrosch. IMSLP has an a cappella madrigal "Sic vita" (1882) by him- I wonder what else he wrote. Hrm!
Anyhow- looking forward to this too, thanks!

It's an August release, which means I should have stock by mid-July.

Also, did Leopold Damrosch write one violin concerto or two? (See notes to the IMSLP page here http://imslp.org/wiki/Violin_Concerto_(Damrosch,_Leopold) in D minor (1874) and op.8 (1858) or are those the same piece?... )

Martin has very kindly afforded me a sneak pre-release audition. More news tomorrow, but for now all I can say is that I'm absolutely astonished at how advanced the idiom is for 1878. It definitely belongs to the  'New German' camp. A major find, I'd say.

Very interesting notes, Eric. Thank you for drawing my attention to them. I had always thought he wrote only one VC.

That's why I said "Walter". Eric wondered what Walter wrote.
