I got to hear his  Série Brasileira at Bard over the summer. Kind of repetitive, but enjoyable melodic romantic music. I enjoyed it. Critics consecrated Alberto Nepomuceno as a champion of Brazilian musical nationalism. I'm finally getting to listen to some of the works of his on youtube like the G minor Symphony.  According to this  "Renowned composers and critics consider the most important symphony written by an American musician in the nineteenth century.
