Rheinberger Choral Music

Can anyone please recommend some good Rheinberger choral recordings? Thanks!

My very favorite is a recording from Carus (who publishes the Rheinberger complete edition) called "Dennoch singt die Nachtigall", a collection of choral works for various ensembles which features the most ravishing singing I have ever heard. Here's my review from amazon.com: "This is a collection of secular choral music by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger (1839-1901), a master of all forms whose works are unfortunately rarely performed today. He is primarily known for his organ music, but also composed a great deal of both sacred and secular choral music. The variety of moods evoked in this extraordinarily beautiful music is astounding, ranging from despair and sorrow to dreaminess and jubilation. The very last selection, Die Nacht (The Night), scored for SATB, string trio, and piano is the most wonderful of all. It is an appropriately dreamy lyrical outpouring that evokes the magic and mystery of a woodland night (and also happens to be in my favorite key, D flat major). The Vocalensemble Rastatt performs these works with all the love and tenderness they deserve. The sounds they produce are simply ravishing, and represent the best and most beautiful choral singing I have ever heard. I can most definitely second Jamie's recommendation. I bought this recording on the basis of his Amazon review and of the review on the UK site and it really is a truly lovely selection of music.

Though this topic is nearly 6 years old, I'd like to recommend another fantastic choral work: Abendlied (the recording by the Cambridge Singers, directed by John Rutter.)

This CARUS 10-CD box "Musica Sacra" by Rheinberger is a really great achievement!
