Busoni, Piano Concerto in C major, op 39

Amongst the couplings to that old Bongiovanni recording of Busoni's big Concerto figures his juvenile "Symphonisches Tongedicht op. 32a" BV240 - which was composed 3 years after the "Konzertstück op.31a" BV236. This seems to be an edited version of his "Fantasia da Concerto for piano and orchestra op. 32 (whatever its BV number may be). This seems to be the only available recording of this dramatic and fascinating 24-minutes piece, revealing already many things to come, as far as Busoni's style is concerned.

Hadrianus wrote:  "Another work for piano and orchestra I do not know is the Concertino BV 292 of 1922..."  According to the Busoni worklist in the New Grove, the Konzertstück [Introduktion und Allegro] in d minor, Op. 31a (1890) and Romanza e Scherzoso in f minor, Op. 54 (1921) were published together as the Concertino, BV 292 in 1922.  "Remus Platen" (a.k.a. Ernst Lumpe) has generously posted a recording of this and many other rare recordings of piano concertos (most from German radio broadcasts) on his youtube page (simply search for Remus Platen).  You can also find on youtube other recordings of the two works, separately.

Just wonder how this Remus Platen did not yet encouter copyright problems by publishing all these pieces on YouTube! Busoni is, of course no problem, but Toch, Linke. Ludwig, Fortner, Braunfels and Co...
