Some time ago, the Hahn was recorded on a Valois CD. I have played. A decent work. The first movement is particularly appealing. The Gliere Octet, which I have performed, is a masterpiece deserving to be heard as often as the Mendelssohn. But, of course, octets are rarely performed in concert as they usually are only played when two existing string quartets come together. Expensive for most chamber music programming societies. The Octet has been recorded at least twice. Once on a Schwann LP by the Dornbusch and Buchberger quartets and once on a MDG CD by the Berlin Philharmonic Octet players.
