I know Kalkbrenner is for some a rather dubious character, but for those interested, I can say that although this forthcoming recording is one of his sets of studies, these are leaning more towards Chopin and include some of real musical content - and then there is his set of variations on one of Chopin's mazurkas (in B flat Op7 No1 to be exact!).https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/kalkbrenner-25-grandes-etudes-de-style/hnum/9509807

Thanks, Martin. I have no doubt that for me these will be interesting and enjoyable. I would like to hear some of Herz's etudes too.
