Grigory Krein piano works from Toccata

Grigory Krein piano works, played by Jonathn Powell, on a Toccata disc.  Although Krein lived into the mid-1950's, many of the selections here are WWI-date.  I started to write that "Krein's symphony earned a positive review from Alan on this forum, a few years ago", but on closer inspection, that was Alexander Krein - this recording is music composed by his brother Grigory. And to make things even clearer, Grigory's son Julian was also a composer-Krein.

This is very much 'on the edge' of our remit - rather like late Scriabin and other Russian composers whose earlier works are suitable for discussion here, but whose later pieces stray beyond late romanticism into hyper-chromatic experimentation.
