Already mentioned a couple of times on this excellent forum; Polish composer/conductor Grzegorz Fitelberg has interested me so much the latest year that I hereby declare the Fitelberg-topic for opened.

The only work I've heard from this composer's oeuvre is a short excerpt from his Symphonic Poem "Song of the Falcon", which left me even more curious. Late-romantic music, the excerpt reminded me of parts from Richard Strauss' Alpine Symphony.
Excerpt can be found here:

As this informative biography can tell (http://www.culture.pl/en/culture/artykuly/os_fitelberg_grzegorz) Fitelberg was most active as a composer from 1900-1915, composing 2 symphonies, symphonic poems and rhapsodies, a violin concerto and some chamber music. He's career as a conductor then seems to have taken most of his time from then on, a fate he shared with a number of other conductor/composers.
With the revival of Fitelberg's teacher Noskowski, can we hope for Fitelberg's music to get some attention in the near future? Acte Prealable have recently released the complete works for violin and piano which might be of interest: http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/Grzegorz-Fitelberg-Werke-f%FCr-Violine-Klavier/hnum/1142998

Any thoughts/comments on Fitelberg?

I'm curious about that symphony that's been uploaded to IMSLP ;)

I have the violin sonatas - nice, late-Romantic stuff which I must have another good listen to.

He also had a composer son, Jerzy Fitelberg 1903-1951.
