I recall seeing some works on imslp, I think. Thanks again, cpo!!

I learned of Damcke some years ago via his friendship with Léon Kreutzer and Berlioz, and through his collaborative efforts in bringing forth an edition of Gluck's complete works in the latter half of the 1800s.

Glad to see this disk is being released. I was made aware it was in the works when I was in contact with a descendant of Damcke last year. From what I have read about the composer, I think we can expect good-quality music; nothing groundbreaking or particularly individual, but works of solid craftmanship and character. I don't know why, but Herzogenberg's output always comes to mind when I think of the type of music I imagine it to sound like.

If further disks are being discussed, I'd like to see his piano sonatas for four hands in the mix.

This disk gets 10/10 from Klassik Heute and a 'Classic today' recommendation. The CPO write up doesn't shy away from the fact it's not top tier composing but I certainly like what I've heard!
