I waited almost a year before buying this! The Violin Sonata of 1905 is a substantial (31 minutes) work in a conservative, late-romantic idiom, much less aggressively chromatic than, say, Reger, which makes for a rather more comfortable, indeed pleasurable listen. There is plenty of treasurable melody on offer here - violinists really ought to take it up.

More on the coupling, her much later Piano Quintet, when I've had time to audition it.

Not wanting to divert from the topic, but it's difficult to reconcile those prices. I may be over-suspicious but Apple seems to me to be continually in trouble over downloads and royalties, so I always wonder if they are playing the game fairly.
