I completely agree with Alan's comment about the reason for the nomination. Very PC it seems to me.

My nomination would be the Sterling CD of Raff's Tageszeiten and Sterne, but I'm not exactly an unbiased observer. Failing that, the Hyperion CD of the Cliffe and d'Erlanger Violin Concertos takes some beating for all round perfection.

Not forgetting that Sullivan's richly enjoyable romantic opera Ivanhoe (1890-1) has secured a nomination in the opera category!
