You have to be aware that pretty much all the recent issues of CD recordings from all the major companies are available on YT for free from the day of their public release.the
You just have to search through the name of the conductor or one of the main artists.

For example here :
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrM6QP6akSPe9dPqj5PMuGQ
then you have all the albums from that artist, and you can click on "show the full playlist" for the desired album, and then you have it.

If, for any reason you can't so easily find the link to the full album, as shown above, all you have to do is find one of the tracks of the desired album (through the track title for example).  And then in the track information, click on "show more", and then next to the thumbnail of the album, you have a blue link to the complete album.

It's perfectly legal, of course, and I said before that I don't understand the economic strategy of putting out all these recordings online for free, but there it is.

I assume the same as any streaming service. Every view is SOME manner of money, even if it's a small amount.

Same with spotify: either you accept commercial interruptions or you pay a subscription fee. In any case the agreement is between the streaming company and the publisher.

To the particular cases, some interesting stuff there, not all of it of the newest of the new releases and of course most of it not within our orbit, but cpo has their priorities which intersect with, are not the exact same as, ours.
The same search can of course be done for other labels distributed by Naxos (or perhaps by replacing the distributor, in some cases, too), I wonder if it turns up anything interesting that's news to ... me anyway..., will have a look

Of course, if one was so minded you could use readily available free software to convert YouTube video into mp3 and download to your computer, allowing you to listen to the music without any ads. Or even burn to disc. I merely point out the technical possibility!

Wasn't able to find that software last I looked, though it existed awhile ago. Maybe it isn't compatible with my current computer, OS, and browser?

Sure, But the at that point you're lossy converting a lossy file, which is pretty bad quality.

Lots of such free and legal software exist and are very easy to find! Of course you get 128k mp3 files, which is pretty low quality.
You can then decide whether you really want the work in higher quality.
But it's more or less what you get from a radio broadcast and it's good enough to listen in your car.

This link continues to produce results.
Here, for example, is the entirety of the final movement of Hiller's F minor Symphony:

And here's the opening movement of the E minor Symphony:

Hiller's best Symphony, without doubt...

Quote from: Alan Howe on Thursday 09 January 2025, 17:07Thanks to fellow-member Justin, we can now track new cpo releases:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Naxos+Digital+Services+cpo
And if you want a link to the whole album of one track of particular interest :
Let's take CircĂ© :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4UXsPgy1NA

You click on the link to open all the details, and next to the avatar of the album, you have a blue link to the full album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LOoqYDVZQM&list=OLAK5uy_l7JgYLSwp3C9q2nVhTZmBJlbJaN-7Ht1c&index=2
When you click on it, it opens the album and starts reading from the first track.  But on the right side of the page, you can see the whole album.
