One of the composers featured at this year's Piano Rarities festival at Schloss vor Husum in Northern Germany is Otilie Suková (1878-1905), Dvorak's daughter and Josef Suk's wife, who died of a heart condition at the age of 27. According to an article about her on the website of the Donne Foundation, just four of her compositions are known.
Roland Pöntinen will play these pieces at Husum on 18 August in a programme devoted to music of the 1890s.

Thank you for drawing attention to these charming pieces, and the sad story of their composer.
Joseph Suk was naturally heartbroken at her loss, and so too their son, who would have been only c.7 years old.
