The Chinese Symphony is van Dieren's biggest work. I've never heard it (but would like to very much) nor seen a score. Van Dieren was an adventurous composer; I enjoy some of his music (not that I've been able to access much) but some of it leaves me cold, particularly some of his experimental and rather cryptic piano pieces.

It is on the internet somewhere, apparently!!!!! A curious
figure. I'm suprised the cd revivals haven't got to him.

Like a very astringent version of late Mahler or the Lyric
symphony by zemlinsky.
