BBC Radio will be broadcasting the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Garry Walker playing Havergal Brian's 1917 Symphonic Variations on "Has anybody here seen Kelly?" at 2:30 pm next Monday, 19 September. Broadcast details here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b014qskd). I'm not aware that this has been broadcast before or is available commercially.
ah right, thanks- and Pettersson 7 at the end, too. Looks to be a good program!
This is from the forthcoming Toccata Classics disc of excerpts from Brian's operas (TOCC 0113) - thanks for the advanced warning!
;D
Oh, I'd wondered if the Brian was from that CD or not. Thank you!
In which case I won't post it here after the broadcast, then.
Schubert, Elgar, Verdi, Brian, very good and performed well! Looking forward to the Bruckner and Pettersson.
Actually, there was a Forlane recording (LP, later CD) of the Symphonic Variations and two other extracts from Brian's opera The Tigers, recorded in 1981, with Leopold Hager and the Luxembourg Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Good to have a new recording, though!

Just a note to my Australian colleagues - NB emusic is not available in Australia. Pity - those excerpts from the Tigers would have been well worth the charge.
