The Wagenaar pieces can be quite rewarding, although Riccardo Chailly made a rather fine recording of most of them with the Concertgebouw years ago.
Particularly Frithjof (not in the Chailly recording) is a very well-constructed, melodious piece. 'Saul & David' I would classify as slightly below-par for Wagenaar.
Pity the Symphonietta Op. 21 isn't among them, though. By far the best orchestral piece by Wagenaar I know.
