Two large boxes in anticipation of the 150th 'birthday' of Delius -

As Delius' music is now hardly ever encountered in the concert hall or opera house (what a pity that the death of Charles Mackerras led to the ROH cancelling a planned production of A Village Romeo and Juliet originally scheduled for this month), much of this repertoire could perhaps fairly be described as 'unsung'.

Delius has never been one of my favourites, but these releases represent an excellent opportunity to explore beyond the handful of works which are familiar.

What a disgrace that Delius is so treated. In any other country he'd be performed regularly. The neglect of the operas is especially sad, as opera can only be properly appreciated in performance on stage. Still, good to see these box sets.

I think that Santa might be apprehended for overloading his sleigh this year.
