Title: Weinberg late "3 Palms" Op.120
Post by: eschiss1 on Thursday 01 December 2011, 14:44
1st? recording of Mieczyslaw Weinberg's "3 Palms" Op.120 for soprano and quartet, together with his trumpet concerto and his string trio (opp. 94 and 48 - 1977, 1967, 1950) - on a CD from Neos entitled Weinberg Edition Vol. 5 (http://www.recordsinternational.com/cd.php?cd=12N066 (http://www.recordsinternational.com/cd.php?cd=12N066)). The trumpet concerto's the best-known work here - conducted by Gerard Korsten, with Jürgen Ellensohn, trumpet and the Voralberg Symphony Orchestra - and the rest seems quite good but then I think there have been some very good 20th century string trios, look forward to hearing this one, and the description of op.120 is intriguing.)
