KARL-BIRGER BLOMDAHL: A CATALOGUE OF THE ORCHESTRAL AND CHORAL MUSIC
1939?: Violin Concerto (withdrawn?)
Where did you find information about this work?
Best,
Tobias
Tobias, the information about the early Blomdahl Violin Concerto came from
http://www.mic.stim.se/C12569E30058A306/V5artikelAZeng/E8BF3A3C4B2C9313C1256AE1004FE87D (http://www.mic.stim.se/C12569E30058A306/V5artikelAZeng/E8BF3A3C4B2C9313C1256AE1004FE87D)
As you will see, this is an article about the Blomdahl Viola Concerto. The third paragraph refers to a first performance by the Goteborg Quartet of "Blomdahl's first violin concerto" in the autumn of 1939. However, the article goes on to say that the Viola Concerto was the composer's first concerto for solo instrument.
My suspicion, therefore, is that the article may have been mis-translated or that there is a simple typographical error. The reference is almost certainly to the "first string quartet" of 1939.
I hoped that someone would pick up on this :) I shall amend the catalogue accordingly.
I think I will send an inquiry about that to the Swedish MIC in the near future - very helpful people there, so this question should be answerable.
Best,
Tobias
