Title: Georg Schumann - Symphony in B minor
Post by: britishcomposer on Saturday 05 May 2012, 15:46
BR-Klassik, Sunday, 13 May, 7-9 pm (MEST)

We are lucky to have a recording in the downloads section but this seems to be a new one.
The Münchner Rundfunkorchester is conducted by Christoph Gedschold, a name new to me.

This could be the forthcoming cpo recording - or at least one of the performances from which the recording will emerge.

Fingers tightly crossed that you might be right, Alan. The previous CPO disc of the two Piano Trios was an absolute delight, despite both being in the same key!

The Serenade Op. 34 will be broadcast next Saturday. Same conductor, so it may well be part of the projected CD!

Hrm. Looking up Gedschold suggests I should have heard of him, since he's also conducted an opera by a composer I've been interested in for some time (The Passenger, by M. Weinberg...)
