Oliviera Louisa Prescott Born London 3 September 1842 - Died 11 January 1917 Chilworth, Surrey.
Daughter of Frederick Joseph Prescott, she was the youngest of six children*. She studied initially under Lindsay Soper, following which she studied at The Royal Academy of Music under Sir George Alexander Macfarren, Frederick Jewson, Folkes and Ralph. Later in her career became lecturer in harmony and composition at Newnham College, Cambridge University. For a period she was amanuensis to the nearly blind G A Macfarren. In 1910 she founded a prize for orchestral composition by distinguished students. This ran until 1932.
