Just got two old Portuguese CDs of João Domingos Bomtempo's four piano concertos, composed around 1810 when the composer was living in Paris. I think these concertos are quite good supplement to early 19th Century piano concertos for their lovely melodies and fresh style. It's quite a pity that most of his piano works are still waiting to be recorded.
I like what I recall seeing and hearing by him and hope more will be played and recorded :)
Back in 1988- when Records International was liquidating their vinyl lps - I picked up Bomtempo's Requiem for about 5$. Likely the best five dollars I've ever spent. Definitely a composer waiting to be discovered by the masses...
