Title: Hamerik 7
Post by: eschiss1 on Monday 27 May 2013, 15:27
did someone ask about the key of Hamerik's 7th or his Requiem? The full score of the latter is now uploaded at IMSLP and it's pretty clearly in D minor (though, not unprecedented for a work of its time, it ends in C major.)  Haven't seen the latter yet.

If the question was about the Requiem after all (which has been recorded with the 7th symphony, and also earlier (1991?) on Kontrapunkt with the 6th symphony and a quintet) the key is C minor (though All Music Guide seems to think it's in A, despite the vocal score, parts, full score, all opening in C minor and ending in C, several online descriptions of the work being in C minor- it's true that the longest movement, the Dies Irae, is in A minor...)

I take it you mean "the former", Eric.

I meant the former, yep. Though it is now true of both. Unfortunately my sentences seem to cross and leap over each other...
