Title: Alfred HILL
Post by: semloh on Saturday 24 August 2013, 01:19
The ABC is beginning to re-discover the music of  Alfred Hill (b. Melbourne 1869), and a two-part documentary on his life and work starts on Sunday.
Please see: http://www.abc.net.au/classic/content/2013/08/25/3830817.htm  (http://www.abc.net.au/classic/content/2013/08/25/3830817.htm)
The programmes can be heard online (here in Aus , at least) and are often subsequently made available as podcasts.

Hill met many of the great composers of the late 19thC, and I believe the series includes recordings of him reminiscing. It should be fascinating!

Fascinating stuff. The live internet stream certainly works OK in the UK. I'll have to have a go at recording the programme as it'll be the wee small hours over here. Fingers crossed for a podcast! Thanks, Colin.

Many thanks for the information , Colin.

Now that Limelight is no longer publishing full programme schedules, I am probably missing some really good stuff on Auntie.

Do you know when the second part of the Hill anthology is being broadcast?

Sorry, I rather lost track of this because of domestic duties - 40th wedding anniversary, two family birthdays, etc etc! I'll try and follow it up.  :-[
