Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7304 Braunfels (note next week on R3)
7305 David Matthews: Symphony No 7; Vespers
7306 Alan Bush: Africa for pf and orch; Fantasy on Soviet Themes: Nottingham Sym
7307 John Foulds Vol 3 – 10 or a dozen short pieces
7308 Bax orch Yates: Symphony in F
Guess the Bax will end up on my Christmas list.
The Bax will be on my list too. So this is the large un-finished symphony from his time in Dresden. I can't wait to hear what has been made out of it. Does anyone know who is playing the Bush Africa Piano concertante work?
According to the Alan Bush website it is Peter Donohoe.
Let's confine ourselves here to discussion of the Braunfels, Foulds and Bax releases, please.
Why Foulds? He is not exactly romantic music?
As this is definitely a release of Foulds' light music, it would certainly qualify.
Quite so.
These new releases are now available to order:

So the Bax at last! I can't wait. On my christmas list along with the Mathews.
Possibly except from the rather disappointing Foulds release (which seems to me to be an act of barrel-scraping), I'll definitely be getting all the new Duttons. I'd be glad to be proved wrong about the quality of the music on the Foulds release, though!
