Title: de Greef Piano Concerto No. 1
Post by: JimL on Saturday 22 February 2014, 22:43
Can anybody give me a tempo for the 2nd movement Scherzo?  Marco Polo didn't include the information when they recorded this piece 17 years ago.

It is 92 á 100 = dotted crotchet.

Great work. You have reminded me to listen to it again.

Ah - so it's just titled "Scherzo" with no further tempo indication other than a metronome marking?  Just like the scherzo of Gounod's Concerto for Piano-pédalier?

Yes old chap. Just titled Scherzo with metronome marking.

I have not looked at the Gounod score, but will tonight.

Indeed the Gounod is just Scherzo.

I got that tidbit of information from Roberto Prosseda himself.  ;)

I'd forgotten how lovely this concerto.  It was one of the very first unsung PCs I discovered (along with the Ponit collection.   Thanks for reminding us.  Another desert island alternative.  'Friad I'm gonna have to take more than one along.....
