Brilliant Classics are releasing a new recording on of Farrenc's Piano Quintets at the end of August. The performers are the Quintetto Bottesini. Full details and sound bites at jpc here (http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/piano-quintets/hnum/5661953).
Is this their third recording now? Not complaining- they're probably my favorite works by her, though I don't think I know that many of the others yet. They really are quite good, I think... and if themelets from both her 2nd quintet and Brahms' 2nd serenade prefigure a tunelet well-known to fans of public radio ("All Things Considered") here, well, ... that's how it is. :)
