The Luxembourg composer Lou Koster (1889-1973), whose orchestral music I mentioned in another thread today, wrote a large-scale ballad for soloists, chorus and orchestra – Der Geiger von Echternach. She completed the piano score in 1967, and the work was orchestrated by conductor Pierre Cao and first performed in 1972. In 2009 a live recording of a new performance was made in Luxembourg and this is available as a CD with very throrough documentation in three languages from Le Centre national de l'audiovisuel (CNA) (http://www.cna.public.lu/fr/actualites/audio/2015/02/LouKoster/index.html) Their webshop is here (http://eshop.cna.public.lu/en/Articles/Index/1?rayon=CD%20AUDIO), and they currently have 4 CDs in stock. I for one am happy to have invested 15 Euros plus p&p in this disc. The music I find very accessible, (late) 19th century in style, melodious and at times quite moving.
