Title: Moniuszko ballet music from Naxos
Post by: Sharkkb8 on Monday 09 January 2017, 22:47
Unlikely to be an earthshaking release one would guess, but perhaps pleasant enough, for ballet fans.  Amazon shows a 13 Feb release date.

I love late 19th century ballet (proud owner of the 9CD 'Music to the Bournville Ballets' box set) so I will emphatically be checking this one out.

Should be a nice release - fine conductor, fine orchestra...

I love the music of Moniuszko, and his operas and overtures are already well represented in recordings, but it is good to have these ballet suites. I thought they would be original compositions by Moniuszko, drawing on themes from the operas, but they appear to be orchestral excerpts. I don't think you need to be a ballet fan to enjoy this music, by the way.  ;)
