This is very sad news indeed. I admired him very much! Just two weeks ago I have bought his new (and third) recording of Dvorak's Stabat Mater...

Yes, sad indeed. He was a champion of less familiar repertoire, especially from his homeland, including works by Martinu and Ostricil, and I've loved many of his recordings over the years.

I agree and would add that judging from his discography he had a very wide repertoire of lesser-known music...

I have seen him conducting even Oskar Nedbal 's Valse Triste.......
