Title: Reinecke Flute Concerto - a great recording?
Post by: Alan Howe on Friday 29 September 2017, 22:22
Well, possibly. At any rate the performance on the new cpo CD by Tatjana Ruhland and the (superlative) SWR Radio Symphony of Stuttgart under Alexander Liebreich gives it a stature I've never encountered before. Thus it emerges as a much bigger and more powerful work than before. Wonderful.

James Galway's recording with the London Philharmonic Orchestra is a classic.

It's the orchestral contribution that's so good on this release - far more than the usual mushy backdrop.
