Rued Langgaard's rather chaotic music isn't to everyone's taste I know (I've only recently acquired it myself), but the bargain of the year must be DaCapo's re-release in a single box of Thomas Dausgaard's fine cycle of all 16 symphonies on seven CDs. It's available from several UK retailers comparatively cheaply, but the best price I've found is at jpc - a giveaway at €19.99 (https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/Rued-Langgaard-1893-1952-Symphonien-Nr-1-16/hnum/5107155)!
Well worth buying. Hate to think what I originally paid for it.
Yes, I paid dearly for it - and it was worth every penny. That's my cd-story over and over though. Pay full price then later comes the super-bargain box, eBay, or Berkshire Record Outlet. I look at as "I was supporting the cause".
Ordered. At least I think I ordered it, the website was in German with no obvious way of getting an English translation. If they turn up it will be great, Langgaard was pretty much next on my list for investigation.
Did you receive a confirmation email?
Thanks for the heads up on this. I was in the market for this set anyhow, just hoping that a cheaper-than-average copy might show up on Amazon. But I've ordered my copy from jpc for which, after factoring in exchange and shipping and handling cost me ca. C$40 which, if not necessarily a bargain basement price, is still more than reasonable for a 7-CD box.
Thanks again.
Brian
And yes, the website is a wee bit convoluted for a non-German speaker. I found it a bit challenging squeezing my Canadian address into the format of the order form.

I cherish this box since a couple of years already. Superb music - and superbly conducted. Not to speak about the lovely presentation.

Hard to say as it was all in German! I have a paypal receipt so I am not worried. Looking forward to receiving these as I have been toying with the idea of collecting the Langgaards and suddenly, the lot at once! I am grateful to the originator as they were twice the price at my usual sites.
The original DaCapo issue has English and German notes, you must have ordered a later German reprint. In any case, if you need scans, I can send them to you, Border Collie
Very kind offer, Hadrianus, but not necessary. I was referring to the website and the order form etc. The box arrived today and it has indeed got both English and German notes. And the 1st symphony is currently playing! I think I may very well like it.
Cheers.
