The following is announced by cpo:
Weigl's cello concerto, sonata and 2 pieces (https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/cpo/detail/-/art/karl-weigl-cellokonzert/hnum/7971867) from 1934 (world premiere), 1923, and 1936-40. Intriguing release (and 2nd disc of his music this month.)
Yes: I've earmarked this for purchase.
Me too.
The Cello Concerto is a fine work, with a very striking and moving slow movement. The performance is a strong one, too, with Raphael Wallfisch as soloist and the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra (formerly the Berlin Symphony Orchestra situated in East Berlin) under Australian Nicholas Milton.
This is the way to present unsung music - i.e. with world-class performers.
